Two weeks ago I was very attached to the idea of adoption as a way to curb overpopulation, but sometimes you have to change your plans. During a Hackathon the other week I met Don Blair of Public Lab who showed me his newest project, Coqui. Coqui allows a user to ‘hear’ water contamination through a simple DIY circuit. A sensor detecting water quality is connected to a piezo speaker where the more contaminated the water the higher pitch that gets emitted. I instantly realized that this could be perfect for testing pH levels and utilizing crowd sourcing to gather data about the ocean’s acidity.
I reached out to Don who is very excited about this project and agreed to periodic check ins about prototypes/designs etc. I’m also looking forward to implementing a daily practice.
