A new media performance combining dance with digital projections, by Sergio Mora-Diaz, Kat Sullivan, and Caitlin Sikora.
Torn is a piece that explores the relationship between the dancer and the technology introduced as part of this new dance medium. How do you create something that that complements the dancer instead of overpowering them? We wanted to explore new mediums for this piece, but we wanted to remain committed to our philosophy no technology for technology’s sake. This piece was created using a Microsoft Kinect sensor, a Canon 5D DSLR camera and the DepthKit RGBD Filmmaking Toolkit, an open source toolkit developed by James George, Alexander Porter and Jonathan Minard. Music by Koen Holtkamp
